Summer Vacation

This summer was not as fun as my other summers before. I really enjoyed not working at my family restaurant as I had the two years before. But I really didn’t want to just stay home and wait for my parents to come home to say, “Hey how was your day”, and then a quick “Goodnight”. Yes I know they have to work to be able to let my fan on super high during those hot summer days but I wished I had more family time.
Don’t get me wrong now, I did some fun. While my parents were gone my older sister Laura, and my younger brother Daniel did play games, helped Laura pack because she was leaving to college. (SMU) This year is her first year at college, and so far I’ve missed her. I don’t usually say that I do only because I don’t want people to think that we’re that close! My brother and I would help her put things in boxes, and take her clothes out of the hangers. As we were doing this, she would yell at us saying that we were going to “stretch” her nice shirts because we didn’t know how to take “nice shirts” off the hanger.
I’m Christian, so I had a lot of Bible Studies with my family, and many Church Services. I love going to hear the word of God, and I try to put the word of God out to other people. But I’ve come to the conclusion where people are different than I am. I can’t just simply tell someone that Jesus loves them. It might be offending to them and they would speak a language that I didn’t even know existed! All of my Bible Studies are with my Youth Group and we tried to have it in different places, such as our Pastors house, our houses, and our Youth Leader’s houses.
Our Youth Group would try to tie in many fun activities as possible such as after church, we would go to the park or go to a restaurant to eat if going to the park wasn’t in the proper conditions to play in.
My boyfriend and his uncle which is the Pastor would always want to take me to Hurricane Harbor. I was always excited to leave my house from doing nothing to having too much to do! Getting on slides, to going on the wave pool, to almost drowning was pretty fun. I had many things to do there and did NOT want to go home.
It was also fun because my aunt got married and had a Luau Party for her birthday. Her birthday was real fun, everyone dressed in hawaiian flower print shirts, with flowers on their heads, tiki torches were lit, there was hula dresses and skirts, I mean she went ALL out on her birthday, and she got many gifts that I couldn’t possibly think of. We had so much to eat that if something caught on fire from the tiki torches, we wouldn’t care; maybe we would roll someone on it to put it out.
At the end, I think I’m just a brat, and I do appreciate things that are given and taken from me, but I think I would want more just to see what else I could have, and I know that I shouldn’t be like that, but I’m human, and not perfect.
