5th 6 weeks

Wow. Only 1 more six weeks left. These six weeks was like no other. I only hope to do better than I am now. I would like a GPA of 95, but it’s hard for me to even get a 90! I worked pretty hard and I can’t stop now. I have one more year to raise it up before I get my rankings. Of course I want to graduate in the top 5% with High honors.

These six weeks felt the same as the others except I figured out that my work was going to need to be better. My family expects high of me, I mean my sister graduated with high honors and is at SMU for her first time and was is doing great. She is going for a double major and everyone is proud of her. I only hope I can beat her and get something better. My desire for knowledge is at its highest peak. But with many distractions, it just sits there and waits for me to notice it and use it. All my classes are the same except now I have more work and can’t slack off. A lot of people joke around and say that they have had senioritis since they were in pre-k. Not funny. I did a lot of typing, running, and talking these six weeks. I staring off with tests, and essays, and ending up with the same thing! A few of my classes have been more fun than ever, like in Chemistry. I now love to learn about Acids and Bases. Church hasn’t been a difference. I go on Sunday and after that go to the park or watch a movie. I have been interested in Mythology for a while, but I don’t want to get mixed with that a lot or else it might change my thoughts and beliefs. I like going to the library to sit on the isle floor and read about the Gods and Goddesses in Greek time. Lately we have been doing a lot of fish fries and eating a lot fatty foods which is delicious but not nutritious. We use to have a Mexican seafood restaurant but we sold it because we were tired and wanted to rest, I learned most of my cooking there. We use to make shrimp cocktails, tilapia, red snapper, seafood soups, paella which is a combination of seafood with rice and other great dishes. All of my family would come and take up the whole occupancy space to eat. We as in my mother, father, sister, and brother wouldn’t be able to eat because we were in the back slaving away! My dad is very picky about presentation, he wants everything right. If we got something wrong, he would get upset. But I didn’t care if he yelled at me. Most of the time we have the fish fries on Friday’s after school, and Sunday or Saturday we would make beef soup and rice. Very mexican, very traditional. But its fun to be with the family and I hope we do many more because its fun. I feel like I can do more next six weeks and hope it doesn’t end too bad! Doing this blog spot is fun; I wonder what my binder would look like if I did one.

Charlie Sheen says if TV show ends, " so be it"

Award-winning actor Charlie Sheen has broken his silence on contract renewal talks for his hit TV program, "Two and A Half Men," saying that if his role ends after the program's current season, "so be it."Sheen, who was nominated four times for an Emmy for his role as sex-crazed bachelor Charlie Harper on the CBS show, gave a statement to People magazine on Friday in which he slammed media reports that he was demanding a higher salary."All of the numbers reported in the press are false. Claims from 'inside sources' regarding offers from the studio as well as my salary, on their best day, are without merit," Sheen said in the statement. For years, "Two and A Half Men" has been among the most-watched sitcoms on U.S. television, and losing the program would be a blow to CBS's advertising revenue. One week ago reports surfaced that Sheen, who is currently facing domestic violence charges in Colorado, was seeking as much as $1 million per episode, a substantial raise from his current level of $825,000, to continue on an eighth season. The 44-year-old star's current contract ends after season seven, and the final show is being taped on Friday."If tonight's show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it. Another journey has begun. I take from the experience 161 shows filled with a kaleidoscope of amazing experiences, memories, friendships and gratitude," he said.Last December, the actor was arrested in Aspen, Colorado and later charged with assaulting and threatening his wife, Brooke Mueller. He has pleaded not guilty, and both he and Mueller have entered rehabilitation program.

Analysis:

Now you know how i feel about this man. He needs to stop and think, " Am i ready to start T.V again?" " Do i still need help?" " What can i do to make everything right and not upset anyone anymore?". Those answers should be.... NO YOU ARE NOT READY... YES YOU STILL NEED HELP... and GO GET SOME ANGER CLASSES. Enough said about this guy, he upsets almost everyone, i wouldnt pay him if he still had issues. Hes not ready, needs to leave this world, and come back when he is human again. :)

Stevens " leaves at the top of his game," Obama says

(WASHINGTON) — Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, the court's oldest member and leader of its liberal bloc, he is retiring. President Barack Obama now has his second high court opening to fill.Stevens said Friday he will step down when the court finishes its work for the summer in late June or early July. He said he hopes his successor is confirmed "well in advance of the commencement of the court's next term."His announcement had been hinted at for months. It comes 11 days before his 90th birthday.Stevens began signaling a possible retirement last summer when he hired just one of his usual complement of four law clerks for the next court term. He acknowledged in several interviews that he was contemplating stepping down and would certainly do so during Obama's presidency.Chief Justice John Roberts said in a written statement that Stevens has earned the gratitude and admiration of the American people."He has enriched the lives of everyone at the Court through his intellect, independence, and warm grace," Roberts said. The timing of his announcement leaves ample time for the White House to settle on a successor and Senate Democrats, who control 59 votes, to conduct confirmation hearings and a vote. Republicans have not ruled out an attempt to delay confirmation. The leading candidates to replace Stevens are Solicitor General Elena Kagan, 49, and federal appellate Judges Merrick Garland, 57, and Diane Wood, 59.Stevens' departure will not change the court's conservative-liberal split because Obama is certain to name a liberal-leaning replacement. But the new justice is not likely to be able to match Stevens' ability to marshal narrow majorities in big cases.Stevens was able to draw the support of the court's swing votes, now-retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and Justice Anthony Kennedy, to rein in or block some Bush administration policies, including the detention of suspected terrorists following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, its tilt toward protecting businesses from some lawsuits and its refusal to act against global warming.

Analysis:

I think that it is good that he leaves. You can not work yourself to death. There is a time when we all should stop working, and most of the time it is for a good cause. I hope he goes on a vacation and lives in a place where no one will find and bother him. When you are on a leave i think no one should bother you. Good that Mr.Obama said his last good byes. Its nice when you are honored about something. I hope that he can take this retirement and use it wisely, i know i would if i worked for the government that long!

Nowitzki Scores 40, Mavs Win And Clinch Southwest

Dirk Nowitzki scored 40 points, making a key 3-pointer with under three minutes left, and the Dallas Mavericks clinched the Southwest Division with an 83-77 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.
Nowitzki added 10 rebounds and was 17 for 17 from the free throw line for the Mavericks, who needed both the victory over Portland and a Memphis win over the Spurs. The Grizzlies obliged earlier in the night by winning 107-99 at San Antonio.
Nowitzki hit a 3-pointer with 2:43 left that put Dallas up 77-68 and all but sealed a contentious game that had the sellout crowd at the Rose Garden mercilessly jeering the officials.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 27 points for the Blazers, who had won the three previous meetings with the Mavericks this season.

Analysis:

I hope this year that the Mavericks win. I love watching basketball and it was fun to go to some of their games. I remember my sister went to a few of their games and she took a poster that said," DIRK, MARRY MY MOM" of course my mom didn't say not to bring it. Who would say no the Dirk Nowitzki!? All the girls in my family love him and wouldn't say no to go to his games. My grandfather says that hes a show off and he cant cook, (that's funny because my grandfather cant cook either.) My dad said that he would give Dirk my mom, hes tired of her. And my mom said that she would go with him in a heartbeat. But anyways we love the Mavs, and reading this makes thing championship's hopeful.

Community rallies around Stephenville woman paralyzed in park stabbing

Neighbors and strangers are working together to renovate the home of a woman paralyzed last month when she was stabbed in a Stephenville park. Brandi Todd, 28, of Morgan Mill was attacked from behind March 14 while she watched her children play, and the attack left her with a serious spinal injury. It is unlikely Todd will be able to walk again. Michael Allen Howard, who did not know the victim, was arrested in the attack."It's not the sort of thing you expect in small-town America," family friend Roger Behymer said.About 20 to 25 people from Morgan Mill, Stephenville and other cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are working on making Todd's home wheelchair-accessible, Behymer said."There's lots of people wanting to help out," he said. "You know, her story has touched a lot of people."

Todd's mother, Denise DeForest, had received calls of consolation and offers of help in her daughter's hospital room, Behymer said, and the family asked him to organize the efforts.Volunteers have been working on the home for a couple of weeks."It seems just wonderful that everybody's helping like they are," said Jerry Packwood, one of Todd's neighbors. Most of the interior work is done, Behymer said, but a new bathroom and a large closet in the master bedroom are still in the works. Some of the renovations include creating a carport and a ramp to the front porch.Behymer said the quickest way people can help out is to donate money to "help her get her life back together."There will be a garage sale for her from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Saturday at 1100 N. McCart St. in Stephenville. And Todd's employer, Schreiber Foods, will hold a picnic fundraiser at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Stephenville City Park, according to www.branditodd.com.Town and Country Bank has also set up a fund where people can donate."It's just a shame that it happened," Packwood said. "It's horrible."

Family History Essay

I’ve know both sides of my parents family pretty well. But during these six weeks, I learned more about my mother’s side than my fathers. My mother’s father is Florentino Pena, her mother is Concepcion Pena. They were both born in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She has two sisters and two brothers, and she’s the second oldest. All of my grandparent’s children which are my aunts and uncles were either born in Laredo, Texas or Dallas, Texas. At first, I thought that they were all born here in Dallas because this is where they live now. But, my uncle who was born first and my mother who was born second were not born in a hospital. My grandmother had a midwife there at her home in Laredo, Texas. She had my uncle and then went to a lady that wrote birth certificates that were authentic, and legal. The state had certified this lady to write birth certificates. My grandmother then had my mother and she went to this lady again to get her birth certificate. Now when my grandmother went to Dallas, this business with the certified lady was going very slow. She needed money and many people didn’t want to go to her to go get their child’s birth certificate, so this lady went Mexico, started to sell the documents that were already legal in the U.S and made them illegal. Now, this lady sold many certificates and had people cross the border so that they can live here and have freedom. Later on, this lady was caught, she was arrested and had to give up her right to write down certificates and her citizenship.

Later on when my uncle tried to get his passport and they asked for his certificate, they told him that it was fake, and that the lady that “sold it to my grandmother legally” was caught for selling them across the border so, he couldn’t get his passport because they couldn’t figure out whether it was documented before she started selling them across the border or after she did all that. There was no proof that it was real of fake, so they turned him down. When my uncle came and told this to my grandmother, she of course was furious and decided to go all the way to El Paso, Texas and go in front of the judge to solemnly swear that it was real and they had gotten it before the lady went to Mexico to sell them. After that, he was able to get his passport, and now when my mother tried to get hers, they again told her that it was fake and the whole same story came to place, now my mother has to go to El Paso, and do the same thing over again. She hasn’t done it yet but will do it soon.

When I found out this story, I thought they were playing with me at first because they were laughing as they were telling it but then my grandmother who is a full Christian lady told me that it was all of God’s plan so then I knew that it was real. I wouldn’t think something like this would happen to my family, but knowing this world, anything can happen. But what you have to learn is how to fix it.
