Well known Psychologist, Strong advocate in Politics, and Raquel was born in Dallas, she went to Ben Milam Elementary, The Dallas Environmental Science Academy Middle School and to Skyline High School for the Advertising and Design Cluster. She from there stayed in Dallas where she earned her Ph.D from the Southern Methodist University at Dallas for Psychologist. Rachel taught as an adjunct professor at the Southern Methodist University at Dallas as well as to the American Society. She was survived by her mother Connie Alcorta, father Daniel Alcorta, sister and brother Laura, Daniel Jr. Alcorta. Raquel will be remembered for her love of teaching and inspiring the young children of the future. She will also be remembered for her smile and kind ways. She never gave up, always did more than a hundred percent. There wasn’t a person who would take the time to teach, and make sure her students left the classroom without learning something new like Raquel. She also served as past Chairman of the Board of the City Credit Union. Most recently, she was the VP of Marketing & Community Affairs for Urban Progress Community Development Corp, a non-profit affordable housing organization. She demonstrated her passion for helping others by helping coordinate annual events such as the Holiday in the Park on Maple Ave. and the Latino Wellness Fair. Throughout her lifetime, career and community Raquel touched many lives and will be dearly missed. She loved the staff and students at SMU and made many good friends. She was most appreciative of her families support; she was a fighter, an optimist and inspiration to others. She was passionate about her home town of Dallas, which she referred to as "God's Country", and her many good friends and large extended family. To her, SMU is home. It’s always there for you, and it is customizable to your needs.” She was a motivational speaker who traveled nationally and internationally, sharing her unique insights on the virtues of trust, credibility, leadership, engaging communications, and human potential in today’s world. She has inspired thousands of people through her speaking and consulting engagements, and reached millions through her television and radio appearances and writings. All her loved ones will miss her, and will carry on from where she has begun.
